Mrs. Wickham's Upstanding Officers · Book 2
Book 2
Lydia Wickham has one position left to surrender. Her officers intend to take it.
She has finally done the unthinkable: left George Wickham to rot in Meryton and gone Brighton-bound with Major Carter, Captain Denny, and Captain Chamberlayne — the last of whom is travelling in widow's weeds and an alarming bonnet, for propriety's sake.
Lydia is behaving atrociously. Auntie Mildred cannot seem to stop her.
Her officers are charmed. Also concerned. They knew Mrs. Wickham when she was Miss Bennet — the liveliest girl in Meryton, before a husband taught her to be smaller. A recruit this neglected requires remedial instruction, and Lydia finds three devoted men determined to attend to every overlooked bit of her. They assess her discipline at coaching inns. Correct her comportment with instruments of graduated size. And when she bolts into an autumn woodland in a fit of unsatisfied temper, they pursue, draw up her skirts, and drill her in the one manoeuvre she has yet to master.
The worse Mrs. Wickham behaves, the more thoroughly her officers attend her. All three of them. In turn.
Drilled by Her Officers is Book 2 in the Mrs. Wickham's Upstanding Officers series — a spicy Pride & Prejudice MMFM why choose reimagining where Lydia finally gets the justice — and attention — she deserves.
